Giving Honors God

Anytime you receive income you give first to God to acknowledge where it came from. The most common word in the Bible for giving is the word tithe. Tithe simply means a tenth or 10 percent. Giving the first 10% of our income to God is a spiritual discipline that reminds us that everything we have ultimately comes from Him.

Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”.

At Calvary Kearny we do not pass an offering plate. Instead there is an Agape box at the back of our sanctuary, just inside the main doors. You may bring your tithes and offerings with you on Sunday or you can give on-line securely through this website.

2nd Corinthians 9:7 “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver”.

Tithes and offerings are automatically placed in the general fund. While donations for Missions, Our Food Pantry, Retreats or Camp Scholarships should be designated for the fund you wish to contribute to.

Proverbs 3:9 “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase”
